Assessment
Students will have four exams at the end of Year 11 – Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Each skill is worth 25% of their GCSE grade.
Aims for All Students:
- Speak and write spontaneously using accurate verbs
- Build resilience and confidence in listening
- Learn vocab regularly to achieve in assessments and exams
Content
- Theme 1: People and lifestyle – Identity and relationships with others, Healthy living and lifestyle, Education and work
- Theme 2: Popular culture – free time activities, Customs, festivals and celebrations, Celebrity culture
- Theme 3: Communication and the world around us – Travel and tourism, including places of interest, Media and technology, The environment, Where people live
Assessment
- 2 Assessments per half term
- 1 Feed Forward Assessment – Vocabulary Translation (Spelling) Test into Spanish/French (approximately 20 words and/or short phrases)
- 1 Key Assessment – Mini skills test i.e. Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening (and translation into Spanish/French/English), and Past Papers as appropriate
Homework
- “A little bit and often approach” – at least 5 minutes a day
- Weekly Vocabulary Translation (Spelling – accents are included) Test into Spanish/French (approximately 10 words and/or short phrases)
- Duolingo Classes (free App to practise all 4 skills: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking)
Exams
Positive
- MFL Rewards Log Sheet – 10 ticks for a House Point, Half completed = Post card home, Completed = Prize Draw for a £5 Amazon voucher (2 winners per term)
- Students of the Week – Effort, work, progress, improvement, and achievement
- Top Class Vocab Average – Lollipops for highest weekly class average score out of 10 marks
