Parental Bulletin – 28th February 2025
MESSAGE FROM THE HEADTEACHER
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope all parents, carers and students enjoyed a restful and enjoyable half term break. Students returned to school this week to be reminded in assembly, of the standards that they should uphold every day in relation to attendance, punctuality, uniform and behaviour. It would be true to say that students have listened and responded beautifully to the assembly this week and have presented themselves well in all aspects of school life.
Within the world of Quality of Education, we are working hard to ensure that students are provided with all the feedback that they need, following the mock exams. It was lovely to meet so many Year 11 parents/carers at parents evening on Thursday. We really appreciate your attendance and working in partnership with us to support our students during the final mile. Year 13 parents evening is just round the corner, and we would really appreciate your support on this important evening.
The sixth form team have also been busy holding the Year 11 into 12 interviews for the students who have applied to stay in our sixth form next year. We are delighted that so many students have applied, and we are looking forward to working with the students to help them choose the best suite of Level 3 courses that they will take over the next two years.
In the world of personal development, there have already been many events and activities that have taken learning beyond the curriculum such as the football matches, safeguarding assemblies and languages trips to Birmingham university, football matches and much, much more.
We would ask, as always that you work with us this half term to ensure that your child is in school every day, unless they are extremely unwell or there are other exceptional circumstances. We would also ask that you work with us to ensure they arrive well ahead of 8.40am and that they present to school each day in immaculate school uniform. If you would like support or guidance with any of these things, please speak to the relevant Head of Year or Pastoral Manager and we will be happy to support you.
I am looking forward to working with you this half term and thank you in advance for your support.
Mr Ford
CONTACTING SCHOOL
As many of you will have heard on the school answer phone message and to re-iterate Mr Ford’s comments, we receive an exceptionally high volume of calls on a daily basis. Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity either to answer a high percentage of these calls or to listen to all voice messages left. We would therefore urge you to email the relevant person/people you wish to contact. Not only does this ensure that we have a written trail of communication between you and school, but it also means that the person you wish to speak to is guaranteed to receive your message.

CLOSURE OF SCHOOL PERIMITER
Following some very near misses in the Grove Street car park and incidences when we have had unauthorised people access school via the Easemore Road entrance, we have taken the difficult decision to close vehicle gates from 8.15am on Grove Street and 8.30am on Easemore Road. There is no more vehicle access to school grounds, either on Easemore Road or on Grove Street, unless you have an appointment with a member of staff or if you need to pick your child up for an appointment or for sickness reasons.
Students are able to enter on foot via the automated pedestrian gate on Easemore Road until 8.40am but, if they are later than this, they will need to walk to the Grove Street entrance and sign in at reception.
Thank you for your understanding and co-operation in this matter.
