Parental Bulletin – 28th November 2025

MESSAGE FROM THE DEPUTY HEADTEACHERS

Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

We hope you have had a good week; it’s been a bit less rainy, which is something.  Mr Ford’s recovery continues to go well, and he sends his best wishes to you all.

We’re getting into the festive season here now, the trees are up and we’re looking forward to our Christmas concert on Thursday 4th December. Our Reverse Advent Calendar collection starts next week, in aid of Batchley Support Group. We thank you in advance for your generosity with this.

Many of our staff (and some students) have been taking part in ‘Movember’, which comes to an end this weekend. Money raised goes towards some important aspects of men’s health, such as supporting young men to develop healthy online habits and prostate and testicular cancer research. We will be fund-raising in school on Friday 28th November, so any contributions will be much appreciated.

For Year 11, subject support is available once again, and the schedule has been given to students to make their choices. For Maths, English and Science, you will have received a letter if your son/daughter has been invited to attend. Other subjects are available to all, as per the schedule. If you have concerns around any of our core subjects, please email Mrs Baker or Mr Green and we will look at putting together a plan for them. All students have had form time sessions on generic revision strategies, and we would urge students to start to incorporate these as part of their homework – feedback is an important focus for the next two weeks. Likewise for Year 13.

We strongly encourage all our students to take part in extra-curricular activities, which can support students in both their academic and personal growth. Last Saturday there was a successful, albeit muddy, DofE walk – well done to all students involved in this. This week, the Year 9 girls’ football club is on after school on Thursday and is available for all abilities – why not give it a go?! And there are many enrichment activities taking place through the Rise programme – including jigsaws – one of Mrs Baker’s personal favourites! Please encourage your son/daughter to look at the attached schedule of clubs, to see if there’s anything they’d like to take part in.

Every week, we remind parents/carers and politely ask, that you work with us to ensure that your child is in school every day, unless they are extremely unwell or there are other exceptional circumstances. We would also ask that you work with us to ensure they arrive well ahead of 8.40am and that they present to school each day in immaculate school uniform. In Autumn Term, full school uniform is expected, and appearance should be immaculate. Facial piercings are NOT permitted, and students should understand that blazers are compulsory, and jumpers are optional. We will only accept the Trinity sweatshirt or knitted v neck available from Orchard clothing. As it gets colder, the rule is coats are fine to wear but must be worn OVER the blazer and not instead of it. Hoodies or tracksuit tops are not permitted.

If you would like support or guidance with any of these things, please speak to the relevant Form Tutor, Head of Year or Pastoral Manager and we will be happy to support you.

Have a relaxing and happy weekend.

Ms Baker and Mrs Bennett

CONTACTING SCHOOL

As many of you will have heard on the school answer phone message, we receive an exceptionally high volume of calls on a daily basis.  Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to answer a high percentage of these calls or to listen to all voice messages left.  We would therefore urge you to email the relevant person/people you wish to contact.  Not only does this ensure that we have a written trail of communication between you and school, but it also means that the person you wish to speak to is guaranteed to receive your message.
