Parental Bulletin – 21st November 2025
MESSAGE FROM THE DEPUTY HEADTEACHERS
Dear Parents, Carers and Students,
I hope you have all had a lovely week; it’s been a busy week here at school with Mr Ford’s absence, but I am very pleased to report that he is making a strong recovery, and we send him our very best wishes for continued good health.
The first series of mock examinations have come to an end, and I would like to reiterate the thanks to the Year 11 and 13 cohorts and their parents and carers, for their approach to the exams, which was commendable. The results will be available soon and we look forward to meeting you at the upcoming parents’ evenings to discuss progress and next steps. Mrs Bond has been working alongside Year 11 form tutors to deliver focused sessions on how students can best spend their revision time. We hope they are finding this useful, and that you start to see the fruits of this in the work they do at home.
Following on from the safeguarding review last week, this week was the Quality of Education review: i.e. how well our young people are learning in the classroom. Our teachers and students, once again, did us proud. Students across the curriculum were wholly engaged in their learning and the Student Council were outstanding in articulating both where and how they learn best; congratulations and thanks to them. On Monday evening, teachers from across Bordesley MAT met in subject areas to work on developing their curriculums, together. Our aim is to have a seamless transition, workwise, between middle and high school.
This week, ‘Pop Up and Busk’ has been underway, which has seen students literally busking in different parts of the school, raising money for Bordesley Support Group. Hearing music and witnessing the talent and generosity we have here in school has been heartwarming. Ms Lyons has also been busy with our Duke of Edinburgh Year 10 and 11 (Bronze and Silver) groups. On Saturday morning they walked in Hanbury Woods, despite the wet and muddy conditions following Friday’s storm. So, a huge well done to them for persevering in those conditions!
On Monday, Ms Money took our KS4 girls to a badminton tournament, where we were successful in securing a place in the next national round, representing Redditch. Well done to all involved.
Every week, we remind parents/carers and politely ask, that you work with us to ensure that your child is in school every day, unless they are extremely unwell or there are other exceptional circumstances. We would also ask that you work with us to ensure they arrive well ahead of 8.40am and that they present to school each day in immaculate school uniform. In Autumn Term, full school uniform is expected, and appearance should be immaculate. Facial piercings are NOT permitted, and students should understand that blazers are compulsory and jumpers are optional. We will only accept the Trinity sweatshirt or knitted v neck available from Orchard clothing. As it gets colder, the rule is coats are fine to wear but must be worn OVER the blazer and not instead of it. Hoodies or tracksuit tops are not permitted.
If you would like support or guidance with any of these things, please speak to the relevant Form Tutor, Head of Year or Pastoral Manager and we will be happy to support you.
Have a relaxing and happy weekend.
Ms Baker and Mrs Bennett
CONTACTING SCHOOL
As many of you will have heard on the school answer phone message, we receive an exceptionally high volume of calls on a daily basis. Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to answer a high percentage of these calls or to listen to all voice messages left. We would therefore urge you to email the relevant person/people you wish to contact. Not only does this ensure that we have a written trail of communication between you and school, but it also means that the person you wish to speak to is guaranteed to receive your message.
