Parental Bulletin 03/02/2023

Dear Parents/Carers,
This week we have had numerous highlights. On Thursday we invited Year 9 students and their parents/carers into school to begin the Year 9 options process. This is the point where Year 9 students begin to have ownership over their own curriculum, and we look forward to supporting them with their subject selections. Also, this week both we ran and finalised the planning for many more fantastic experiences for our students. A number of Year 13 students are currently packing their suitcases in preparation for their Food trip to Naples, Italy next week and our Year 10 students are looking forward to their trip to the Symphony Hall to listen to the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra next Tuesday.
In terms of standards, please can I urge parents to ensure that students leave for school on time and in impeccable uniform. Please can I stress that students should be wearing formal leather, black polishable shoes and if they wish, a plain black V neck jumper.
Please may I also take the opportunity to remind parents/carers of the important ingredients to ensure that your son/daughter continues to be successful this term;
Attendance – in our ongoing quest to ensure students enjoy educational success, we must ensure that students attend school every day. Please ensure this is the case. If your son/daughter is unwell, please follow the advice in the attendance policy which advises you which conditions constitute your son/daughter missing school.
Uniform – please ensure that your son/daughter has impeccable school uniform with no variations to the published uniform policy on our website. May I specifically mention avoiding branded jumpers of any description. Jumpers should be plain black and without a school logo.
Rewards – we are very keen to see as many students achieve awards at our next EXCELLENCE FOR ALL assemblies at the end of Spring Term. Please ensure that you encourage your son/daughter to earn as many housepoints as possible as the more housepoints they earn, the greater the milestone they will achieve.
Mobile Phones – please can parents/carers support us to ensure that our students manage their mobile phones well and comply with our mobile phone policy. PLEASE DO NOT PHONE YOUR STUDENTS DURING THE SCHOOL DAY AS THIS MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO MANAGE MOBILE PHONE USAGE. IF YOUR SON/DAUGHTER CALLS YOU WITH AN ISSUE, PLEASE DIRECT THEM TO THE RELEVANT HEAD OF YEAR OR PASTORAL MANAGER OR CALL THE SCHOOL AND WE WILL SUPPORT YOU. I WOULD BE SO GRATEFUL FOR THIS SUPPORT FROM OUR PARENT BODY.
Have a fantastic weekend when it comes and thank you for your ongoing support.
Mr Ford
