Year 9 football – match report

Trinity welcomed St Augustine’s on the 2nd October for the first match of the season.
After braving the conditions we were underway and Saint Augustine’s started well. Riley had to pull off some good saves after some fantastic build-up play from Saints, while Trinity struggled to keep the ball in the first 15 mins. However, once Trinity got their foot on the ball, they started to create a couple of chances. It looked as though it was going to be 0-0 going into half time, but a wonderful individual effort from the Saint’s midfielder saw an overhead kick go into the roof of the net!
The second half kicked off and Trinity started well. A free kick was turned in by Keaton to make it 1-1 and Trinity hoped to push on from there. However, a quick flurry of St Augustine goals saw Trinity go 4-1 down and it was tough to come back from here. Nonetheless, it was a great effort from Trinity in their first match together and there were plenty of positives to take away from the game.
Huge credit to St Augustine’s who were deserving winners on the day.
MOTM was Brody, who was incredibly solid at the back.
Special thanks to Cai, who kindly refereed the game and was exceptional throughout. It was fantastic to see someone control the game as well as he did at such a young age!
