World Challenge Part IV

Settling in for the next couple of days, we were all up early and cooking breakfast for one of the turtle days. The locals took us to a nearby tree nursery where we took it in turns to do a beach clean-up and plant trees. During the beach clean-up we discovered so many different insects in the vines and even a long piece of rope that ‘Hercules’ tore out the sand! We all then stopped at a local restaurant to have some lunch and headed off to make some banana chips, which were super tasty. We also got the opportunity to try on some traditional Malay clothing.

We couldn’t get enough of the beach, so we all went back either to swim, explore or sunbathe.

Stir-fry was on the menu for dinner that night, before we started the beach patrols. During the first group of beach patrols we were able to teach one of the locals, Sulong, how to play cheat, which is one of the highlights of the trip. Unfortunately we experienced a tropical thunderstorm, so groups 2 and 3 were unable to head out on beach patrol, but hopefully we can do it tomorrow night!
