World Challenge – last days in Kuala Lumpur
It’s called World Challenge for a reason, and after a few ‘challenging’ days of camping, leeches and storms, it was safe to say we were all looking forward to sleep on a proper bed.
We arrived in KL and ventured out to Bukit Bintang on the monorail, which was like Times Square in NYC, and had dinner in a huge mall with a food court.
Waking up the next day we had a walking tour of the city, during which we were told how Malaysia declared their independence and we saw some amazing historic sites of the country. There was then some time in the afternoon to have a spend in the KL Sentral mall, not far from where we were staying.
On our 3rd day in KL, Nikki smashed her leadership day and we travelled to the Batu Caves where, thankfully, the macaques monkeys didn’t bat an eyelid at us. It was a surreal place with Hindu temples and a 272 step staircase.
On our last full day, Sophie led us on a tour bus, taking both the garden and city route. A couple of people then headed to the KL bird park, seeing stalks, pelicans, eaglets and many exotic birds. In the evening we ended our trip in such a beautiful way, with something we had all been looking forward to since we signed up to the trip – The Petronas Towers. The views were incredible, seeing the city all lit up from the streetlights.
The trip itself has been something that we will all remember for the rest our lives. The friends we made like Sulong, Kiki, Ray and many others won’t be forgotten.
Thank you to Mrs Stocks for running this experience, Ms Baker for joining us and taking everything as it came to us, and Ray for being the best leader we possible could have had!
