U16 Girls’ Football

Last week saw the first game of the season for the Trinity girls and they started the season off in fine form. The girls were excited for the game and this showed in their performance. The girls started off very dominant against Bewdley.

After the first shot of the game was brushed away for a corner, Grace (captain) whipped the ball to the back post where Emily was waiting to fire a bullet header into the back of the net. Straight off the blocks after the first goal, Trinity were hunting for more. Bewdley looked lost as Trinity piled on the pressure.

Monique was next on the scoresheet as she smashed the goal into the top left corner, it was one of the best finishes I’ve seen on the Trinity field. Absolutely spectacular, Monique was playing like a young Ellen White. Trinity were playing like Barcelona, Bewdley couldn’t get hold of the ball. It’s a lot harder to play football without the ball.

Trinity got a free kick outside of the Bewdley box. Grace hit the ball well and it was tipped away to the feet of Holly, who was able to tap the ball into the net. It was 3-0 Trinity at half time.

The girls regathered with Miss Hopkins and prepared for the second half. Trinity started the second half with flair. There was an early long ball over the top by Grace to Kaitlyn, who delicately chipped the Bewdley goalkeeper in such an elegant fashion to make the score 4-0. The crowd went wild. The girls were relentless and didn’t stop scoring.

Emily was next on the scoresheet with a classic striker’s finish into the bottom right corner. Although Trinity were winning, Bewdley didn’t give up and were determined to score. Bewdley took a long shot, which was tipped onto the bar by Chloe, a superb save I must say. Trinity were destined to keep a clean sheet.

Poppy and Kaitlyn put the game to bed after some excellent link-up play, which saw Poppy assist Kaitlyn with her second goal. A big thank you to sixth formers Georgia and Nicole who refereed the game. Congratulations to Miss Hopkins and the U16 girls’ team who will move forward into the quarter final.
