Trinity Remembers 2024
On the afternoon of Friday 8th November, the whole of Trinity gathered on the playground for our annual Act of Remembrance. We were joined by governors, MAT colleagues, and students from our own newly-formed cadet unit, and other local cadet units.
Mr Ford led the service, starting with reminding our students why we do Remembrance and this year’s theme of ‘Service’ is so important. An outstanding show of parade square drill followed, as our cadets marched on to form the ceremonial Guard of Honour for the service. This was then followed by a series of remembrance-themed poems read by history students from Year 12.
After the Last Post was played, our 2 minutes silence was observed impeccably by the entire school community. Two of our cadets, Ethan and Grace, laid a wreath on behalf of the school. Deputy head students, Manny and Courtney, then read out the names of fallen servicemen from THS. As each name was read out, a cadet in the Guard of Honour displayed a personalised, laser-cut silhouette of a WW1 Tommy. These silhouettes were created by staff from our excellent Product Design department and Year 13 students Abi and Maddy, to represent each fallen individual.
The service closed with Mr Ford announcing the winner of our remembrance-themed house competition run by Miss Griffiths. Congratulations to our winner, Falak, in Year 10, whose winning piece of Remembrance artwork demonstrated our HEART values in abundance.
A huge thank you to all of our cadets, to our Year 12 readers Kaif, Ava, and Maesi, to deputy head students Manny and Courtney and our students who volunteered to sell poppies on behalf of the Royal British Legion. It was a fantastic display of our school’s HEART values, showing the commitment of our students to Trinity and our wider community.
