THS Remembers 2025

On Friday 7th November, we held our annual Remembrance Service, where we honoured the incredible courage and sacrifice of generations of British service men and women. Due to the risk of wet weather, we had to adjust the service this year and take it indoors. However, we were very honoured to welcome our special guest, Tony Aston, a former student of the school when it was known as Redditch County High School. Tony has authored the book The Last School Bell and written a poem titled We Were There, about the fallen soldiers, sailors and airmen of the Second World War who attended Redditch County High School. Tony delivered an incredibly powerful and poignant presentation to our Sixth Form, cadets and staff, detailing the lives, service, and sacrifice of members of our own school community. Tony also connected the fallen to our students today by reminding them that these men once sat in the same hall, at the same time of year, honouring the fallen of the First World War.
We thank Tony for making the long journey from Devon to give all of those who attended such a memorable experience, and we hope to welcome him back to the school soon.
