STEM Club Autumn Term 1

This half term in STEM club we focused our project on “the Great British Bake off” and we linked it with raising money for charity. Big thank you to Mr Cook for helping in the kitchen every week with his amazing baking stills.

Each pair, or individuals, had to bake on the Wednesday evening and then sold the treats on the Thursday break time. They had to research their recipes, work out costs of ingredients and design posters, advertising prices and ingredients. Students also had to brush up their baking skills and develop their entrepreneurial skills by selling their treats at a profit.

All students worked hard and showed determination, resilience, teamwork and initiative throughout this project. They were all awarded a certificate as they counted their profits and wrote a letter to their individual charities. One such charity was Cramer Cat Rescue, who sent us a thank you postcard after receiving their donation. As a club we raised a total of over £81.

Well done to the STEM club for their hard work this half term.

Next half term we are working on microbits. Each week students will develop their coding skills, enhance their engineering know how and apply that all so mathematical and scientific problems. If you are interested please watch the link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSeZpccxNWE

STEM club runs on Wednesday evenings 3:05-4:05 and this half term will be based in room 65 with Mr Homer.
