Girls’ biggest ever football session
On Friday 11th March, 11 of our girl football leaders went to Arrow Vale School to help run our biggest ever girls’ football session. This was part of a national day to get more girls involved in football. There were a total of 140 girls on the day.
In the morning, leaders worked in pairs and were in charge of leading a station for a group of 15 pupils from local first schools. They were all amazing, both demonstrating the activities and adapting them if necessary, to make them easier or harder for the pupils. This was something they have been practicing in their leadership sessions after school. Lots of fun was had by the pupils and the leaders.
In the afternoon, local middle schools arrived and the leaders headed skills stations whilst also tailoring games to challenge the Year 5 and 6 players’ football skills and tactics. The girls were also able to practice their refereeing skills, which they have also explored in their leadership club.
