Parental Bulletin – 8th November 2024

MESSAGE FROM THE HEADTEACHER

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to the second half of Autumn term. We hope that you all had a wonderful half term break, filled with autumnal fun and enjoyment with those that you love.

The highlights of this week have included witnessing the maturity and commitment of the Year 11 and 13 students as they embarked on their first series of mock examinations in preparation for their 2025 summer public exams. Both year groups have approached this week brilliantly and we are hopeful that they will perform well and learn a lot about exam craft and exam resilience in the process.

Another highlight this week was holding our sixth form college open evening on Tuesday evening and meeting many prospective Year 12 students and their parents/carers, both from Trinity and other local high schools. It was fantastic to meet so many parents/carers on the evening and receive such positive feedback, particularly about the breadth of curriculum that we offer at Key Stage Five and about the expertise of our subject leaders, who sold the school remarkably well.

There were also all the usual fantastic events, such as the sporting and house opportunities on offer this week and, as I write this bulletin, we are preparing to hold our annual remembrance service at the school. Due to mock examinations, we are holding it on Friday this year, so that the whole school can join in and commemorate as a school community.

Please can I remind parents/carers of our unceasingly high expectations around uniform. This term as the temperature drops, it is important that students are able to keep warm to focus on their learning. We encourage students to wear the Trinity v-neck jumper at this time of year to stay cosy. This is optional and should be worn IN ADDITION to the blazer and not replace it. If students wish to wear a coat, then that is fine, but it must not be a hoodie or tracksuit top and it must be removed in lessons. In terms of appearance, students must wear black, formal polishable shoes and long nails and piercings are not allowed in school.

We appreciate parent/carer support to ensure our students adhere to our uniform and appearance policies.

I hope you all have a good weekend when it comes and I look forward to writing out to you next week.

Mr Ford

CONTACTING SCHOOL

As many of you will have heard on the school answer phone message and to re-iterate Mr Ford’s comments, we receive an exceptionally high volume of calls on a daily basis.  Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity either to answer a high percentage of these calls or to listen to all voice messages left.  We would therefore urge you to email the relevant person/people you wish to contact.  Not only does this ensure that we have a written trail of communication between you and school, but it also means that the person you wish to speak to is guaranteed to receive your message.

CAR PARK AND ROAD SAFETY

We have had concerns raised by members of staff and parents/carers about the speed people are driving into and out of the school car park and the fact that students often have their noses in their phones when crossing roads.  Can we please urge you to keep below 10mph in the school car park and to reinforce at home the importance of road safety.
