MESSAGE FROM THE HEADTEACHER

 Dear Parents and Carers,

As we approach the long and well-deserved Easter break, our school community has been busy living the HEART values in school, in the community and as far as Cyprus!! No sooner than we celebrated our staff and students when they safely returned from an epic adventure to Madrid, this week, some of our Year 13 students embarked on a trip of a lifetime to Cyprus. So far, they have had an amazing time, and you will be able to see some of the things that they got up to when they update our social media platforms.

In terms of our ongoing commitment to personal development at Trinity, there have been more photography trips this week, the English department hosted the Box Clever Theatre Company to perform to our Year 11 students, our cadets have been learning all about weapon handling and in a Trinity first, Mrs Lester, Mrs Senior and Mrs Harvey planned, set up and ran the first ever Trinity Prom Dress event, where donated dresses and prom accessories were available for students to borrow. The event was a huge success, and we will be looking to expand the event to the community next year.

It won’t escape any parents/carers who keep in touch with the mainstream media that there is a national recruitment crisis in teaching. However, I am delighted to celebrate the fact that, at Trinity, we are bucking the trend in terms of recruitment into the profession, as we have already recruited 12 new initial teacher trainees into our initial teacher trainee hub for 2025-26. Mrs Jordan and Mrs Morris represented us at another local ‘get into teaching’ event and we are extremely proud of, not only how many new entrants to the profession we are recruiting, but the fact that we are attracting trainees into shortage subjects where other providers cannot recruit. We are very proud of this fact.

Every week, we remind parents/carers and politely ask that you work with us to ensure that your child is in school every day, unless they are extremely unwell or there are other exceptional circumstances. We would also ask that you work with us to ensure they arrive well ahead of 8.40am and that they present to school each day in immaculate school uniform. If you would like support or guidance with any of these things, please speak to the relevant Head of Year or Pastoral Manager and we will be happy to support you.

Finally, a few weeks ago, we wished the Muslim members of our Trinity community a prosperous and peaceful Ramadan. This Sunday and into Monday, it will be Eid, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. We will be authorising absence on Monday 31st March for religious observance and on behalf of all the Trinity community, I would like to wish everyone celebrating ‘Eid Mubarak’.

I am looking forward to sharing news from around the school next week.

Mr Ford

CONTACTING SCHOOL

As many of you will have heard on the school answer phone message and to re-iterate Mr Ford’s comments, we receive an exceptionally high volume of calls on a daily basis.  Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity either to answer a high percentage of these calls or to listen to all voice messages left.  We would therefore urge you to email the relevant person/people you wish to contact.  Not only does this ensure that we have a written trail of communication between you and school, but it also means that the person you wish to speak to is guaranteed to receive your message.
