PARENTAL BULLETIN – 27 SEPTEMBER 2024

MESSAGE FROM THE HEADTEACHER

Dear Parents/Carers,

It has been a wet but very enjoyable week at Trinity and there has been a lot of success in and out of the classroom.

Some of the highlights of this week have included our students’ enthusiasm on the geography field trips; despite the weather, the feedback has been that the students performed brilliantly. Extra-curricular and wider school events have been happening across the school in earnest this week. There have been lots of sporting events, including Year 9 football, Year 11 netball and badminton club. The UK Maths Challenge took place on Tuesday, at which Trinity was brilliantly represented by a delegation of mathematicians, and students have also been busy learning how to learn in their ‘brain training sessions’ which will set them up well for exam success in every subject.

The other highlight of the week has to be the overwhelmingly positive feedback we have received about our new communication protocols with parents/carers. Time has been set aside in our teacher’s weeks to call and email parents to communicate positive messages and, sometimes, give parents/carers an early indication of any issues before they worsen. We really appreciate the feedback and will certainly be continuing this new endeavour weekly.

Please can I remind parents/carers of the best ways to reach us if you would like to contact us. Some recent parent feedback has led me to believe that there are some frustrations around our phone lines and how busy they are at peak times. It is really important that we listen to parent feedback and respond swiftly, therefore my strong recommendation is that if you would like to discuss anything with a member of staff then email is the best option. You can find staff email addresses on our website in ABOUT US, MEET OUR STAFF.

I hope you all have a good weekend when it comes and I look forward to writing to you next week.

Mr Ford

CONTACTING SCHOOL

As many of you will have heard on the school answer phone message and to re-iterate Mr Ford’s comments, we receive an exceptionally high volume of calls on a daily basis.  Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity either to answer a high percentage of these calls or to listen to all voice messages left.  We would therefore urge you to email the relevant person/people you wish to contact.  Not only does this ensure that we have a written trail of communication between you and school, but it also means that the person you wish to speak to is guaranteed to receive your message.

WORD OF THE WEEK

Our New Word of the Week:

‘winnow‘ – the word winnow is a verb which refers to the process of removing things that are not wanted. They could be items in your house, or things on a to-do list. The word was also used in agriculture to describe the process of winnowing the chaff from the grain, where farmers would throw the grain into the air and let the wind ‘winnow’ the unwanted parts. See if you can use it this week!
