MESSAGE FROM HEADTEACHER
Dear Parent/Carers
This week was the first official ‘big’ examination week for Year 11 and 13 students. Without a doubt, my highlight of the week was watching the whole staff body pull together to ensure that our amazing students were settled, prepared, calm and able to execute their exams with confidence each day this week. I have been a very proud Headteacher watching how mature our Year 11 and Sixth Form students have been in their approach and how a metaphorical Trinity arm has been wrapped around them all week! Good luck to both our exam year groups for week two of the summer exams.
In other news this week, our Year 10 students took part in a house sports afternoon and myself and my senior leadership team were meeting with some very special visitors regarding three very special projects. I can’t possibly divulge anything at this stage but suffice to say that each of these three projects are going to bring a lot of educational value and excitement to the school in the very near future. I can’t wait to share some exciting news soon.
I can, however, share some fantastic news regarding the power of our wonderful student council.
Each half term, student representatives meet with me to discuss our school and how we can improve it. I listen carefully to their views and opinions and work hard to realise some of their requests.
Some of their requests have been significant in terms of cost. However, two particular requests are absolutely necessary to allow us to deliver on EXCELLENCE FOR ALL. I am therefore delighted to announce that in September, students will have access to brand new equipment in their Music Suite so they can thrive in their Music curriculum.
We have also just finalised plans for our brand new, state of the art Astro turf, fencing and all the necessary accessories (goals etc) to allow both our students and our local community to have access to a brand-new, high-quality sports facility for many years to come. Our new Astro will hopefully be ready in November. I’ll keep you updated as the weeks go by.
As always, please can I urge parents/carers to work with us to secure excellent attendance and impeccable uniform. Please send your child into school in full uniform every day with no deviations including hooded jumpers or tracksuit tops, and unless they are severely unwell, students should be in school.

CAREERS
Thank you for the reply slips that have been returned for the current Year 10 to complete their work Experience in September. There are still quite a few outstanding and remind parent/carers that this is a compulsory requirement of the school and the students career programme. The students have been fully informed and supported about choosing their placements, completing their CV’s and letters so that once the placement has been approved by the school they can apply to the company.
Once the company have confirmed the placement it is all checked by the partnership EBP and Worcestershire Apprenticeships. The students are guided and informed about expectations, dress code, interviews and first days etc before they go out in September. Thank you to parents who have sorted out their child’s own placement. Please email me with any questions as we realise that it is quite a complicated process. laxtonl@trinityhigh.net
ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE FOR ALL
Calling all students – come and ‘Study Happy’ at Worcestershire Libraries! Are you studying for GCSEs, A levels or other Level 3 qualifications?
‘Study Happy’, a partnership between Worcestershire Libraries and The University of Worcester, is all about helping students, particularly those studying for school, college or university exams, to reach their academic goals while also prioritising their wellbeing. With Study Happy, students have access to free study spaces, computers, resources and WiFi, to help them ace their exams and stay on top of their coursework. In addition, the programme also emphasises the importance of self-care and taking breaks, because let’s face it, studying can be stressful! So, if you’re a student in Worcestershire, be sure to check out Study Happy and see how it can help you reach your academic goals while feeling happy and healthy. Our libraries host regular events that are designed to de-stress and support healthy studying, these include PAT therapy dog sessions, Mindful Colouring, free hot chocolate, and fruit snacks. The Study Happy programme also offers research, referencing, and information gathering help from the University of Worcester, giving anyone studying for exams or coursework access to expert advice and guidance on their academic work. The Study Happy programme is open to all students across the county and is completely free of charge. Whether you’re studying for exams or simply need a quiet space to work, Worcestershire Libraries are here to support you on your academic journey. NEW COURSES FROM LEARNING SERVICES WORCESTERSHIRE
Have you ever thought about working in schools? Learning Services Worcestershire offer a range of courses for those aged 16+ preparing considering a role in education. With options for Adult Learning (aged 19+) and Young Adult Learning (16-19*)
Young Adult Learning courses are an excellent choice for anyone aged 16 to 19* who feel school or college may not be the right option for them. They provide a choice of Traineeships and Study Programmes carried out in small, friendly groups in a flexible environment:
- Traineeships: a work-based choice that runs over 26 weeks and includes an extended work placement in a sector of their choice. Alongside English, maths, and employability tuition, Traineeships can be flexible and built around what the learner is interested in. Please ask us for more details or to investigate a traineeship to suit.
- Study Programmes: For those who might not be quite ready for extended work experience, Young Adult Learning run two Study Programme options from their dedicated Fairfield Learning Centre in Warndon, Worcester. Level 1 or 2 in Hairdressing and Level 1 in Caring for Children are made up of a vocational qualification in English, Maths, and employability, as well as support to develop readiness for their next steps.

Adult Learning Worcestershire are offering courses for anyone interested in gaining a Teaching Assistant qualification, starting in September 2023:
- Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching & Learning in School is an accredited by City and Guilds is made up of 11 units including safeguarding, child development and equality, diversity, and inclusion. This course requires all learners to complete a work placement in a school setting (voluntary or paid) and is an entry-point qualification to practice in school.
- Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools is a five-unit, theory-only qualification. Both courses will be running from venues in Redditch, Worcester, and Evesham from September. Over the last few years, the Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualifications provided by Adult Learning Services have proven extremely successful. Last year’s progression to employment rate currently stands at over 90%.

Young Adult Learning Worcestershire are hosting their Open Evening on Thursday 18 May (5pm to 8pm). Young Adult Learning offer a combination of Traineeships and Study programmes that are designed to support 16 to 18 year-olds (19 to 24 with an ECHP) to access vocational learning in a friendly environment. Find out about courses available and traineeships in Hair and Beauty, Childcare, Teaching Assistant, plus bespoke traineeships at their Open Evening. In our drive to broaden our vocabulary, please find our new T2 Workable Word of the week – ‘VIABLE’ – If you were lost in the wilderness, how would you rate your survival skills? If you were successful and got a fire or shelter to work correctly, then you would have made them ‘viable’. A ‘viable’ construction or organism is going to work. Its been put together correctly. We can use the word ‘viable’ to describe inanimate objects (like a fire keeping you warm in the outdoors) or living things like cells in human body. We use the word ‘viable’ as a adjective.
Here are some ways you could use the word:
“Fifty years ago, no-one believed wind power would be a viable option.” (adjective)
“YouTube is a viable option for filmmakers who cannot get studios to release their films.” (adjective)
