Parental Bulletin – 20th June 2025

MESSAGE FROM THE HEADTEACHER

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you are enjoying this extended period of beautiful weather. This week has been really happy and a little sad in equal measure, as one of the first events this week was the Year 11 leavers’ celebrations and assembly. Thank you to parents/carers in other year groups for your support on the slightly shorter day, to allow all staff to celebrate the Year 11 students and their three years at the school. Many of the students will be staying on for sixth form and we are absolutely delighted about that, but we wish all our departing Year 11 students all the very best for their next chapter in further education, training or employment.

One of my absolute highlights of this week was the opportunity to sit down for lunch, which is a rare occasion in this job, but which was made extra special because it had been prepared in a professional kitchen by our very own HOW college students. The students were an absolute credit to themselves, and the school and the food was absolutely delicious. I’m already looking forward to next year.

Also this week there have been the usual range of in-and-out-of-class events and we are particularly proud of our Year 10 students, who are engaging with their Year 10 summer exams with a great deal of maturity and commitment. We hope that their results truly reflect their potential and their preparations.

Please can I also keep reminding parents/carers to save the date of the evening of TUESDAY 15TH JULY for our summer awards evening. Our governors and I cannot wait to welcome parents/carers of award winners to this prestigious end of year awards event.

Every week, we remind parents/carers and politely ask, that you work with us to ensure that your child is in school every day, unless they are extremely unwell or there are other exceptional circumstances. We would also ask that you work with us to ensure they arrive well ahead of 8.40am and that they present to school each day in immaculate school uniform. On Wednesday-Friday this week, we introduced PE kit for three days and may do so again if the temperatures remain high.

If you would like support or guidance with any of these things, please speak to the relevant Head of Year or Pastoral Manager and we will be happy to support you.

I am looking forward to sharing news from around the school next week.

Mr Ford

CONTACTING SCHOOL

As many of you will have heard on the school answer phone message, we receive an exceptionally high volume of calls on a daily basis.  Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity either to answer a high percentage of these calls or to listen to all voice messages left.  We would therefore urge you to email the relevant person/people you wish to contact.  Not only does this ensure that we have a written trail of communication between you and school, but it also means that the person you wish to speak to is guaranteed to receive your message.
