Parental Bulletin 11.11.22
PARENTAL BULLETIN – 11 NOVEMBER 2022
MESSAGE FROM THE HEADTEACHER
Dear Parents and Carers
It has been another busy but exciting week at Trinity. The Year 11 and 13 students have approached their first mock examination series with maturity and diligence, and we are very proud of their efforts. The Year 11’s have just received a treat of an extended lunch and some amazing looking doughnuts to say well done and keep going!!!
On Friday, we also held a short service to remember and honour the incredible courage and sacrifice of generations of British service men and women who gave their lives to protect our freedoms. The service was incredibly powerful and personal as our students read out the names of fallen soldiers from the original Redditch County High School, some of whom were only school age when they died in service. Please check out the images on our school website and social media.
Next week we will be continuing to develop our Anti Bullying Strategy, we have Year 9 Brain Training and trips to the Houses of Parliament, Twycross Zoo and a Trampolining competition. We will also be launching some of our new rewards for our ‘ALWAYS’ students who ‘ALWAYS’ do great things around our school community. These students are often overlooked in terms of recognition, so we look forward to celebrating with them.
If you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us and we look forward to seeing you throughout the term.

WHAT PARENTS NEED TO KNOW ABOUT HOW TO COMBAT ONLINE BULLYING
A free online safety guide on combatting online bullying. Defined as “ongoing hurtful behaviour towards someone online”, cyber-bullying makes its victims feel upset, uncomfortable and unsafe. In the digital world, it has numerous forms – such as hurtful comments on a person’s posts or profile; deliberately leaving them out of group chats; sharing embarrassing images or videos of someone; or spreading gossip about them. Cyber-bullying can severely impact a young person’s mental health … so, in support of Anti-Bullying Week, we’ve provided a list of tips to help trusted adults know what to look for and how to respond to it. In the guide, you’ll find tips such as playing online games with your child, talking about your child’s online life and being prepared to listen without showing any judgement or criticism. Please see attached.
DUKE OF EDINBURGH
Students have until Monday 14th November to ensure all their forms are returned to Miss Lyons/Mrs Loader and the first instalment payment is made on MCAS. A reminder that the training walk is on Saturday 26th November, a letter will follow shortly.

In our drive to broaden our vocabulary, please find our new T2 Workable Word of the week – ‘RESPOND’ – The word ‘respond’ is something you do in reaction to a stimulus. You ‘respond’ to people, to pictures, to stories and to the world around you past and present. When you ‘respond’ to something, even by just being silent or standing still for a moment, you acknowledge it. It is a mark of respect. It is used as a verb.
Here are some ways you could use the word:
“The manager could not get his midfield to respond to his instructions!” (verb).
“The Joker responded with a smile to Batman’s request.” (verb).
Where does it come from?
Late Middle English (as a noun): from Old French, from respondre ‘to answer’, from Latin respondere, from re- ‘again’ + spondere ‘to pledge’. The verb dates from the mid-16th century.
