OUR PUPIL PLEDGE

 

We are committed to fostering excellence by investing in your potential and the Excellence for More Able programme is designed to empower students to realise your talents, aim high and maximise your futures. We promise to deliver an education that embodies our school’s core values of happiness, excellence, ambition, respect and tolerance.

We pledge to nurture happiness, transforming the learning process into a journey filled with joy, curiosity, and a genuine love for knowledge. To fulfil this, we will:

  • Create a supportive and encouraging atmosphere where you feel comfortable expressing your ideas, taking risks, and embracing challenges with enthusiasm.
  • Ask questions that stimulate thinking, deepen your understanding and spark curiosity.
  • Promote awe and wonder when sharing our subject expertise to ignite a love for learning within you.

We pledge to strive for excellence in all aspects of your education. To fulfil this, we will:

  • Have unceasingly high expectations and aspirations for your academic progress and character development.
  • Model the high expectations and aspirations we have for you.
  • Prioritise development of teacher subject knowledge and utilise evidence-informed pedagogical approaches to deliver high-quality teaching.
  • Teach to the top to provide intellectual challenge for all and skilfully withdraw support where appropriate so you become independent learners.
  • Ensure the quality of your work produced is to a high standard to demonstrate excellence.

We pledge to nurture your ambitions, so you leave us with the all-important skills and qualities to achieve life-long success. To fulfil this, we will:

  • Instil in you the belief that anything is possible with hard work, dedication and perseverance.
  • Offer a broad, balanced, knowledge rich, ambitious and inclusive curriculum which enables you to ‘think the unthinkable and the not yet thought’.
  • Teach cognitively challenging lessons that require you to be active and engaged in your learning.
  • Use assessment information effectively to provide feedback that allows you to move forward in your learning and make more progress.
  • Develop your metacognitive skills so you can plan, monitor and evaluate your own learning and develop independence.
  • Remove any barriers for economically disadvantaged students, through our cultural capital programme which will in turn, allow all students to access fulfilling career opportunities.

We pledge to uphold the utmost respect for each and every one of you, treating you with dignity, compassion, and empathy. To fulfil this, we will:

  • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment where you feel valued, heard, and respected so that you, in turn, learn to value those around you.
  • Ensure the curriculum taught promotes the character attributes necessary to become well-rounded citizens who can contribute to our society.
  • Nurture strong relationships with you, your parents and the wider community.

We pledge to foster a spirit of tolerance, embracing diversity as an enriching element of our school community. To fulfil this, we will:

  • Challenge discrimination in all areas of the curriculum and promote equal opportunity for all.
  • Monitor and evaluate curriculum provision so that it represents a diverse culture and society.
