International Women’s Day

Last week we celebrated International Women’s Day at THS. Years 9 and 10 had assemblies which explained the theme for this year (#EmbraceEquity), and discussed the history of IWD, along with some information about both equity and equality.

In lessons, different subject areas chose different inspirational women to highlight and then celebrate their achievements. In RE lessons students debated ‘Is God a man?’ and looked at the many ways deities are represented as female. In PE lessons, students learned about how Lily Parr did so much to promote women in Sport. Mrs Jordan also ran an afterschool session for our Year 11 and Sixth Form students to learn a little more about women in Media. A fantastic day was had by all.
