Year 9 music covers a variety of lessons to give students an opportunity to taste every aspect of the subject before choosing their options for Year 10 and beyond. Within the three skills of performing, listening and composing they will learn about the elements of music, film music, blues, pop, music notation and music tech. They will also have the chance to play guitar, ukulele, keyboard, drums and create a pop band for a performance.
KEY STAGE 4
Rock School (RSL) Music Practitioners course Level 2
All students who choose this course must be able to play an instrument or sing. In preparation all students should be practising regularly in their own time and preferably be having lessons on their chosen instrument or voice.
The four units covered in both years will give students an opportunity to perform and develop their musical theory and listening skills and music technology skills.

KEY STAGE 5
Exam Board – Rock School (RSL) Music Practitioners Level 3
All students that choose this course must have GCSE music grade 4 or above, RSL Level 2 Merit or above or BTEC Level 2 in Music merit or above.
Students are also required to be grade 4 standard or above on their chosen instrument or voice. It is helpful if students also have a basic knowledge of music theory or can read music.

Tuesday (3.05 – 4.05pm) – Trinity Singers
Any student who has a love for singing. Open to all year groups, particularly students who want to build their confidence in performance and develop vocal skills.
Trinity music department pride themselves on opportunities for students to perform in and out of school. We have a Christmas Concert every year which is open for all students to audition. Every other year the Performing Arts come together for a house performing arts championship or the school production. Our most recent shows have been Return to the Forbidden Planet, We Will Rock You and Bugsy Malone.
Trinity Singers regularly perform outside of school at events such as the Worcestershire County Voices and Visions Festival, Carol Singing at Redditch Alexandra Hospital and ‘Singing for your Christmas Tree’ in Bromsgrove. Summer 2019 – they are going to be performing at Upton Jazz Festival.
