PARENTAL BULLETIN – 11 OCTOBER 2019

Y10 & Y11 BOYS’ TOILETS

During half term and lasting approximately six weeks, the Year 10/11 boys’ toilets are being refurbished.  Unfortunately, this will mean that other toilet facilities throughout the school will be in greater demand.  We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause but we are sure the disruption will be worth it.  These are the last of the student toilets to be refurbished and will be a great enhancement to our facilities.

VOLUNTEERING – LIFE

Life is a charity looking for volunteers aged 16+. Please contact them on volunteering@lifecharity.org.uk

Please see attached poster for more information.

In our drive to broaden our vocabulary, please find our new T2 Word of the week – AFFECT:

  • that the nasty gossip affected the student.
  • the arrival of the storm will affect our picnic plans.
  • these new rules will affect me a lot.

Affect is usually used as a verb, but can also be something someone is pretending to do – ‘talk in a posh voice’ – to trick others. This is called an affectation.

Word of the Week: ‘amaranthine’ – adj, of a pink or rosy red colour.

Quote of the Week: ‘Every story I create, creates me. I write to create myself.’ – Octavia Butler, American writer.
