Duke of Edinburgh

The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme has been running at Trinity for many years now and each year more and more students sign up. We have a group of qualified, dedicated staff who give up a lot of their time to support the students. We believe it is a crucial stepping stone into developing life skills which will definitely set young people up for the world beyond school.

For some students it is an opportunity to make new friends, have a go at something new, improve fitness, develop team building skills and become more resilient people. Year 10, 11 and VIth students are offered the opportunity to sign up to the Bronze, Silver or Gold awards. Each award comprises of a number of sections which involve students organising their own volunteering placement, developing or improving a skill such as learning an instrument or baking and spending one hour a week doing some kind of physical activity. Alongside this they attend expedition training sessions on a Friday after school which leads to one practice and one assessed expedition at the end of the school year.
